Providing Technical Support for the Melen Dam and Kocaeli Metro Projects in Türkiye… Expanding Cooperation with IKSA
Mr. Tae-Young Kang, CEO of WONKANG Co., Ltd., a specialized manufacturer of construction and mining equipment parts, recently visited Türkiye to inspect the Melen Dam and Kocaeli Metro project sites in Istanbul and held technical discussions with IKSA, the company's local partner specializing in geotechnical and foundation engineering.
WONKANG's products are currently being used in major infrastructure projects across Türkiye. The visit was organized to review product performance in the field and provide on-site technical support.
The Melen Dam Project, led by the Turkish State Hydraulic Works (DSİ), is one of Türkiye's key national water resource projects designed to ensure a stable drinking water supply for Istanbul. During the visit, WONKANG evaluated ground conditions and construction environments while discussing quality improvement, Value Engineering (VE)-based construction optimization, and cost-saving solutions with project stakeholders.
The company also provided technical support at the Kocaeli Metro Project, helping improve product performance and construction quality while further strengthening its partnership with local contractors.
Meanwhile, on June 18, Mr. Kang participated as a panelist in the Family Company Talk Concert, jointly organized by the National Research Council of Science & Technology (NST) and the Korea Institute of Human Resources Development in Science & Technology (KIRD). During the event, he introduced successful cases of improving production systems and strengthening technological competitiveness through collaboration with the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT), emphasizing the importance of continuous cooperation between government-funded research institutes and private companies.
